IMPORTANT:
─────────
When extracting the archive, be sure that the files have the AV STAMP from
Lounge Software. If they do not, then call us to receive the OFFICIAL
RELEASE. Some files may have been tampered with if the AV STAMP is missing.

NOTICE:
──────
When Jim released this program as FREEWARE I asked him if I could modify
the archive to reflect something besides the "adult theme" which was what
the program was originally designed for. He was most gracious and gave me
permission to "go for it." The files HAVE been modified. Changes have
been marked with the asterisk symbol.

WARRANTY:
────────
This product is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. The entire
risk as to the results and performance of the program is assumed by you.
Futhermore, the author does not warrant, guarantee, or make any other
representations regarding the use of, or the results of the use of the
program, and you rely on the program and results solely at your own
risk. The author cannot and will not accept responsibility for system
damage, loss of profit, or any other special, consequential or incidental
damages resulting from the use or inability to use this product.
USAGE:
─────
This product is being distributed as Shareware. Under this concept you
may use the SHAREWARE (unregistered) version for a reasonable period of
time for evaluation after which you should either register your copy
or discontinue usage.
* The program is now FREEWARE! Jim Webb still retains the copyright.
DISTRIBUTION:
────────────
You are encouraged to distribute Fantasy Wall provided that all
files contained in the archive are distributed in their original and
unmodified state.
* Permission has been granted to freely distribute the modified form
of this door, known as Faithful Witness.
* DESCRIPTION:
───────────
Fantasy Wall (also known as Faithful Witness) is much like a grafitti
wall door but with a twist. Users can write and read other users stories
of faith as well as the predefined stories that come with the door.
* REGISTRATION INFORMATION:
────────────────────────
There are a couple of ways in which you can Register Fantasy Wall and
recieve your individual key file, which will allow the program to operate in
FULL Registered mode. Look for details on how to do this in the file:
REGISTER.FRM included with this archive.
* The program is now FREEWARE *
* SHAREWARE VS REGISTERED:
───────────────────────
The SHAREWARE version of Fantasy Wall has NO limitations as opposed to
the REGISTERED version. Other than a pause going into the program and out of
the program. This is not in place to be annoying, just to encourage
Registration of the product to cover the cost of programming time and support.
Future versions, updates, and support of Fantasy Wall are yours FREE with
Registration.
* All "unregistered pauses" have been removed in the FREEWARE version.
INSTALLATION:
────────────
Installation of Fantasy Wall is very simple. The first thing you should do
is move the files into whichever directory you plan to operate Fantasy Wall
from.
Then use the included INSTWALL.EXE to install your copy of Fantasy Wall.
The install program will ask you 4 questions for the below required
information:
c:\wc40\wcwork\node1\door.sys <- Full path to your Drop File
Zippy's Lounge <- BBS name
Jim <- Sysop's first name
Webb <- Sysop's last name
That's it! Now you're ready to run Fantasy Wall on your BBS!
RUNNING THE PROGRAM:
───────────────────
This part is basically up to you. Depending on which BBS program you are
running, the .bat file may look a little different. Refer to your BBS
Manual for information on running Doors from your BBS. We will use a
sample .bat file which would run Fantasy Wall from a Wildcat System:
DOOR10.BAT
──────────
CD\DOORS\WALL
FANTWALL FANTWALL.CFG
CD\WC40
If you would like to test Fantasy Wall before putting it up on the BBS,
you can run it locally at any time by typing LOCAL in the Fantasy Wall
directory.
FOSSIL DRIVER SUPPORT:
─────────────────────
Fantasy Wall also supports the use of Fossil drivers. To tell it to use
the Fossil driver instead of the standard COM ports, just put /FD on the
command line when running the door. For example:
FANTWALL FANTWALL.CFG /FD
indicates that a Fossil driver is present and should be used. If no Fossil
driver is detected, Fantasy Wall will print a message to that effect
and exit back to the BBS gracefully. *Please Note: No fossil driver is
needed to run this door. If you are operating on standard com ports and
irq's, then use of the fossil driver is not really needed.
ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES:
─────────────────────
Fantasy Wall supports COM 1-4 on the standard IRQ's - COM1/COM3 = IRQ4
and COM2/COM4 = IRQ3. Fantasy Wall WILL support COM 0 - 15. If you wish to
use a non-standard IRQ, add the IRQ number after the configuration filename.
Let's assume you want to use COM1 and IRQ5. The command line passed in the
.BAT file would be:
FANTWALL FANTWALL.CFG /5 or
FANTWALL FANTWALL.CFG /%IRQ% for the environment variable.
The /5 tells Fantasy Wall to use IRQ5 rather than the standard IRQ4 that
is normally used with COM1. No /x parameter is needed for the standard IRQ's.
UP AND RUNNING:
──────────────
Once Fantasy Wall is up and running it should basically take care of itself
and will require no maintenance from you. Instructions on using the game
are in the Door itself and are pretty self explanatory.
You can RESET all of the stories by using the included file RESETFW.EXE.
This will delete all of the .dat files that are created when a user enters
a new story. After reseting Fantasy Wall it will be ready for all new
stories and requires nothing else from you.
Also included in this archive you will find WALL-AD.ANS. This can be put up
as a logon screen telling your users that Fantasy Wall has arrived on your
BBS and to try it out today!
Please note: Fantasy Wall is NOT a multinode door! If you are running more
than 1 node, then I would suggest you either use an ENVIRONMENT
VARIABLE for the path to your drop file or copy FANTWALL.CFG and
rename it for additional nodes...IE. FANTWAL2.CFG, FANTWAL3.CFG,
etc. You should ONLY allow 1 user in this door at a time.
That's it....Have fun and enjoy Fantasy Wall!
486DX CPU's:
------------
The math coprocessor in 486DX CPUs cannot handle floating point math which
all MicroSoft Basic's use. This can show up as an ERROR 5, a keyboard
timeout, etc.
Fortunately there is an easy fix for this problem. Simply place the following
line in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file:
SET NO87=ON
SPECIAL THANKS TO:
------------------
My wife Lynn for her continued support & assistance. Without out her I would
be a babbling idiot and the computer would be in a million pieces!
Also to those who have registered the door so far!
* Additional thanks to:
Jay and Cammy Cochrane for giving me permission to use the "Sage" when
modifying the door for a christian enviroment.
